Everyone loves a big win at bingo, but imagine if you won a jackpot and then discovered that someone else had run off with it. This is exactly what happened to one unlucky lady who was scammed out of her bingo jackpot by a bingo fraduster at her local Mecca Bingo club.

One lucky lady was delighted to win the £500 jackpot but when she went to claim her winnings she was told that the money had already been given out by someone claiming to have been sent by the winner in order to collect the winnings.

The bingo imposter told Mecca staff that she had been sent to collect the cash by the jackpot winner, the fraudster who is desribed as being mid-twenties, left the Garrick Parade bingo hall in a hurry at around 9pm.

Mecca’s extensive CCTV system managed to capture the offender talking to Mecca staff as she lied about collecting the bingo winnings and the tapes have been handed to police officers for them to study.

The police are confident that they can identify the offender and are currently trying to track her down and are asking anyone in the local area for any information about where she may be.

Mecca did honour the winning ticket however, and the real bingo winner did manage to collect her winnings but we suspect that this time they did ask to see her ID card and her winning ticket.
