A few months ago we brought you the breaking news that many Americans are taking up the sport of Cow Chip Bingo. If you need reminding, this is a game of bingo which depends on a cow doing its business on a specific area of a field. If you’ve put a bet on that area of the field, you’ve won bingo. It is that simple and of course, was an idea that came from the US of A!

We’ve recently discovered another animal that is literally ruling the roost in the animal bingo craze: the Chicken. Yes indeed, the Chicken has taken over from the Cow as the animal of preference in these bizarre bingo games. The craze has become particularly prominent in Austin, Texas, which prides itself on its motto: ‘Keep Austin Weird’. The weekly Chicken Poop Bingo tournaments at Ginny’s Little Longhorn certainly step up to the mark of keeping the city as weird as possible.

The game is set up by placing a grid of 54 squares underneath a simple chicken-wire cage. Each of the lairy punters bets on a square or several squares. The next bit involves the chicken. Sissy, the resident chicken, takes centre stage in the middle of the cage. She is then left to roam whilst people surround the cage anticipating when she’ll relieve herself. As soon as she does, the owner of the lucky square is the winner.

Sissy the Chicken replaced Red, the reigning champ who strutted her stuff on the bingo catwalk for five years. Here at UK Bingo news, we’ve got a special place in our hearts for chickens, we’re quite attached to our feathery friends and we’re not sure if we’d want them to be our personal dabbers. We’ll be sticking with the auto-dab function when we’re playing bingo online! For the residents of Austin, though – it looks like Chicken Poop Bingo is here to stay!
