A new version of Bingo has been invented that can be played in real life at Bingo Halls and can also be played online. It is Rock and Roll or is it Bingo?

This new game was invented by a keen Bingo player and music fan from Leeds. His name is Mike Walsh and he might be about to become famous. He started the new game as just a bit of fun, but people who played it loved it and its popularity is souring.

It works like this. As in ordinary Bingo everybody has a card and a dauber. Instead of numbers, the card has a mixture of song titles and names of famous bands printed on it. Instead of calling out numbers the caller plays a few bars of a song from a CD that has 90 tracks. The tracks are selected at random in a manner similar to setting automatic shuffle on a CD player.

When a player hears a track that they have on their card either as a song title or a band they mark it and when they achieve a specific pattern such as a line or full house they call just as in ordinary Bingo. Mike Walsh the inventor based his innovation on a combination of pub quizzes and Bingo.

As a trial he introduced it at local clubs and pubs and it went down a storm and is now played regularly. He has also taken the game on a tour round universities and colleges, and it is now played regularly by tens of thousands of people.

He has now set up a company to market the game and is in discussions with major live and online Bingo companies regarding full commercialisation of the game. An online version is currently in development and plans are in place to produce a television version of the game.

Mark Walsh says that he thought of the game whilst having a few pints at his local pub and that he wanted to combine the elements of Bingo with those of pub quizzes. His initial plans were drafted on a beer mat.
